Make Money While Traveling

Traveling can be expensive, so many people want to make money while traveling. In this article we will give you some good tips and hopefully inspiration on how to do just that and make your big travel dream come true more easily.

Working in hotels/hostels

Whenever you visit a new hotel or hostel, you can ask the staff if they need extra manpower. You often come across a no, but there are also some examples of people who got a job in a certain place and can thus finance the trip a little longer. However, it’s often a free room that you get for all your hard work and not that much money, but it’s still a great opportunity to travel cheaper and try something new.

Create a blog/website

One of the best ways to make money while traveling is to create a travel blog simply by posting about your travels. You might think there can’t be that many people interested in reading about you and your adventures, but it’s all about making it interesting. If you can do that, you can actually make a lot of money. The only downside, of course, is that you have to take your computer with you when you travel.

Work on a farm

There are places where you can work in exchange for free accommodation on a farm. You rarely get paid for it, but it should still be on this list as it offers a good opportunity to extend your trip a little longer. It’s a slightly alternative way to travel, but it can quickly turn out that it’s all really worth it.

Play music on the street

If you take a guitar or ukulele with you on your trip, you always have an opportunity to stand and play somewhere on the street. Some places make more money than others, and they say there’s more to be had playing in big cities on a Friday than in the country on a Monday morning. Of course, some talent is required, and in some places a permit.

Rent out your house/apartment

You can earn extra income by renting out your house while traveling. Since you don’t live at home when you travel, it makes sense to rent out your house or apartment for a longer stay abroad (e.g. six months). It doesn’t have to be enough for the entire rent, but halfway through you suddenly have a lot more to do. Especially if you’re traveling in Southeast Asia or South America, where the money stretches a little further than many other places, not least compared to back home in Stoneura. There is no doubt that you can easily make money by, for example, renting out your house through Airbnb or similar.
